Locked Out of Microsoft Account Despite Successful Email Verification

I am writing to report a critical issue with my Microsoft account recovery process that has left me unable to access my paid Microsoft Office subscription.

The issue: I do not remember my Microsoft account password and initiated the standard reset process. I successfully received and entered the verification code sent to my registered email address(gmail account) — the one associated with my Microsoft account. However, after entering the correct code, the system then asks for my current password, which I do not know. This creates an endless loop where I am verified by email but still cannot proceed with the reset.

What I have already tried:

  • Completed the account recovery form at account.live.com/acsr multiple times with no response from Microsoft
  • There is no option to speak or chat with a live support agent for personal Office license holders

Impact: I have been a paying Microsoft Office customer for years and currently cannot access any of my Office products due to this account lock. This is unacceptable for a paid service.

What I am requesting: A manual password reset or direct human assistance to resolve this loop, given that my identity has already been verified via my registered email address.

Please treat this as urgent. I expect a response and resolution promptly. Can anyone from Microsoft Support help me here as I can not access any of my work in google drive or use any office product or Microsoft service for something I have been paying.
I can not believe Microsoft is ignoring my request.

The system should ask you to create a new password and not enter your old one.

Try doing it like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PLSV4BLN9c

    Try a different browser.

Manual password resets or direct intervention by support agents are not available for Microsoft consumer accounts, even for paid Microsoft 365 subscriptions. Account recovery and password reset are handled only through the automated flows and forms for security reasons.

Based on the described loop and what has already been tried, the following are the only supported paths:

    1. Use the Sign-in Helper and standard reset paths
      • If the password is forgotten, use the official reset flow described in Reset your password from the "I can't sign in" guidance.
      • If the username or account is not recognized, or if the sign-in flow behaves unexpectedly, use the Sign-in Helper tool referenced in the account recovery documentation. This tool is the primary way to diagnose most sign-in issues.
    2. Use the Microsoft account recovery form correctly
      • Before re-submitting, review the guidance in Help with the Microsoft account recovery form. It explains how to maximize the chance of success.
      • Ensure the form is completed:
        • From a device previously used to sign in to this Microsoft account.
        • From a typical location (home/office) where this device and account were used.
      • Provide a separate, working email address (can be any provider, including a friend’s or a newly created Outlook address) so Microsoft can send the result of the recovery request.
      • If the form is rejected, it can be retried up to two times per day. If the account cannot be verified, the only option is to keep trying with more accurate historical details (old passwords, subject lines, contacts, etc.).
    3. If security info is the blocker
      • If the issue is that security verification options are wrong or inaccessible, and the password is known, the documented path is to sign in to Advanced security options and add a new way to sign in or verify, then remove outdated info. However, this requires knowing the current password, so it does not apply if the password is forgotten.
      • If all security info is lost and the password is not known, the only supported path is again the account recovery form as described in Troubleshoot Microsoft verification code issues.
    4. Understand support limitations
      • Documentation explicitly states that, to protect accounts and their contents, support agents and advocates:
        • Cannot send password reset links.
        • Cannot access or change account details.
        • Cannot override or bypass the automated account recovery and verification systems.
      • Even when contacting Microsoft Support via the general support portal, agents can only guide through the same self-service flows and forms; they cannot perform a manual reset for a locked consumer Microsoft account.
    5. If the account is locked or rate-limited
      • If too many attempts have been made (password resets, verification codes, or recovery form submissions), the account or verification mechanisms can be temporarily locked.
      • The recommended action is to wait out the lockout period (often around 24 hours) without further attempts, then:
        • Start with the Sign-in Helper.
        • If needed, re-submit the account recovery form from a familiar device and location with as much accurate information as possible.
    6. If the account ultimately cannot be recovered
      • If repeated, carefully completed recovery forms continue to fail and the system cannot verify ownership, there is no supported way for Microsoft to manually restore access to that specific consumer account.
      • In that case, the only remaining option is to create a new Microsoft account and, if applicable, associate any transferable subscriptions or services with it (subject to product-specific rules, which are not covered in the provided context).

There is no supported mechanism for a moderator, engineer, or support agent to manually reset the password or bypass the automated verification, even for long-term paying customers. The only viable actions are to:

    1. Wait for any lockout/rate limits to expire.
    2. Use the Sign-in Helper.
    3. Re-attempt the Microsoft account recovery form following the official guidance as closely as possible.
