Contacting Microsoft support

Hello everyone,

I have been trying to get into contact with Microsoft support for a little while with no avail. The ai chat box doesn’t really help much especially when the support that I’ve been asking for is about trying to recover a hacked account. It’d be more beneficial to contact an actual human being instead of an ai chat bot or an automated message from the Microsoft support numbers. If any of the people that work at Microsoft read this please contact me on this thread so that I can get the real help I need.

To reach a human at Microsoft for hacked or account-recovery issues, use the official support and recovery channels rather than only the automated assistant.

For a hacked Microsoft personal account, the primary path is:

    1. Submit the account recovery form at https://account.live.com/acsr (Account Recovery). This is the official way to verify ownership when access is lost. Provide as much accurate information as possible.
    2. Use the guidance in “Help with the Microsoft account recovery form” (linked from that page) to improve the chances of success.

To contact a human support agent (chat or phone callback):

    1. Go to the main Microsoft Support contact page: Contact Microsoft Support.
    2. Enter a short description such as “recover account” or “account hacked” and select Get Help.
    3. Scroll down and select Contact Support.
    4. Sign in with any Microsoft account (if the hacked account is inaccessible, create or use another account).
    5. When prompted for product/service, choose the closest match (for personal accounts this is typically under “Other products” or “Manage Account Security”).
    6. Choose Chat with a support agent in your web browser or the callback option if offered.

Additional options and notes from Microsoft guidance:

    • If verification codes are not arriving, use the Sign-in helper and then, if needed, select Contact Support from the same flow.
    • Support agents are not allowed to send verification codes, password reset links, or directly change account details; they can only guide through the supported recovery process.

If using Windows with a Microsoft personal account, the built-in Get Help app can also connect to a human:

    1. Open Get Help from the Start menu.
    2. Describe the issue (for example, “account hacked” or “recover account”).
    3. If automated suggestions do not resolve it, follow the prompts to Contact Support, then select chat or callback when those options appear.

For Outlook.com or Hotmail-specific issues, another path to a live agent is:

    1. Sign in to Outlook.com.
    2. Select Help on the menu bar.
    3. Enter the issue; if self-help doesn’t solve it, scroll to Still need help? and select Yes.
    4. Choose Chat with a supported agent in your web browser.

These are the documented ways to move from automated help to a human agent for account and security problems.
