A cloud-based identity and access management service for securing user authentication and resource access
Hello Preet Jain,
Greetings! Thanks for raising this question in Q&A forum.
I completely understand how frustrating this is you are caught in a loop where the activation fails and the support channels to fix it are also blocked. This is actually a known challenge with institutional Microsoft tenants and Azure for Students activation. Let me explain what is happening and guide you through the best path forward.
Your college email (@dypakurdi.onmicrosoft.com) belongs to a managed Microsoft 365 tenant controlled by your institution. This tenant has restrictions that prevent external sign-ins to Microsoft's Engage Center and support portals, causing the AADSTS50020 tenant mismatch error and the "No Access" block. The Azure for Students verification system is also unable to confirm your university ID because it cannot properly authenticate through your institution's tenant.
Here is what you should do step by step:
Do not try to activate using your college email account directly through the institutional tenant sign-in flow. Instead, go to https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/free/students and click "Activate now."
When prompted to sign in, use a personal Microsoft account (e.g., @outlook.com or @hotmail.com) instead of your college account. If you don't have one, create a free personal Microsoft account at https://account.microsoft.com.
During the activation flow, you will be asked to verify your student status. At this step, enter your college email address (@dypakurdi.onmicrosoft.com) as the verification email — a one-time verification code will be sent to it to confirm you are a student.
Check your college email inbox for the verification code, enter it in the activation flow, and complete the setup using your personal Microsoft account as the billing/subscription account.
If the GitHub Student Developer Pack path is still preferred, go to https://education.github.com/pack, find the Azure offer, and click "Get access." Make sure you are signed into GitHub with the account that has your college email verified, then follow the redemption link — this flow sometimes bypasses the tenant restriction.
If you still hit the "Unable to confirm your University ID" error, try accessing the activation page in a private/incognito browser window after clearing all cookies, to ensure no stale tenant session is interfering.
If none of the above works, the most reliable path is to contact Microsoft directly via the Azure for Students support form at https://aka.ms/azureforeducationsupport — this form works without requiring portal sign-in and allows you to submit your student ID and proof of enrollment manually for human review.
Please note that Q&A forum moderators are unfortunately unable to perform manual verifications or escalations for Azure for Students activation the education support form link above is the correct and fastest channel for your situation.
If this answer helps you kindly accept the answer which will help others who have similar questions.
Best Regards,
