Adaptive card with the ability to appear for some users and not others in Teams

Hello,

I wanted to ask if it is possible to have a bot I created send an adaptive card on a meeting group chat on Teams for only specified users and not have it send that adaptive card to other users? Basically I only want an adaptive card to appear for specific people on a chat.

I know it is possible to have adaptive cards look different for specified users but I want the card to either show up or not show up at all for some people.

Thanks!

Hi @manda

I hope you are doing well.

Based on Microsoft’s current documentation, a bot in a shared Teams meeting chat can use user specific views so that certain users see a different refreshed version of an Adaptive Card. However, the card itself is still posted in the shared conversation, which means the base card remains visible to everyone in that meeting chat. At this time, there does not appear to be a supported way to make an Adaptive Card appear only for selected users while being completely hidden from other participants in the same shared meeting chat.

For more information, please refer to Microsoft’s documentation on User Specific Views in Adaptive Cards.

If your goal is for only specific users to receive and view the card, the better approach would be to send the Adaptive Card to those users through a personal chat instead of posting it in the meeting group chat. This would allow the card to be delivered only to the intended recipients.

If you would like this behavior to be supported in shared meeting chats in the future, I also recommend submitting feedback directly to Microsoft via the Feedback Portal to help prioritize this feature in future updates.
