Hi paul davey
I understand you’re having trouble deleting a file that someone shared with you in Outlook, and that the content appears inappropriate.
First, could you please let me know:
- Are you accessing this via a browser or the Outlook app?
- Do you see the file in OneDrive > Shared, or only in Outlook?
In the meantime, please try the following:
1, Remove the shared item from your OneDrive (if it was shared via OneDrive)
- Go to Personal File Sharing & Cloud Storage | Microsoft OneDrive
- In the left pane, select Shared
- Find the file under Shared with you
- Right-click it > choose Hide from shared
This will remove it from your view.
2, Block the sender in Outlook (to prevent future content)
- Go to https://outlook.live.com
- Find any emails from that sender (if available)
- Right-click the email > choose Block > Block sender
If you don’t see an email, you can still manage blocked senders via:
- Settings > Mail > Junk email > Blocked senders and domains > add their address
3, Report the content Since you mentioned the file name suggests inappropriate content, it’s a good idea to report it:
- In OneDrive (web), right-click the file > look for Report a concern (if available)
- In Outlook, right-click the email containing the file > Report > choose Phishing or Junk
This helps Microsoft take action against the sender.
Feel free to let me know how things go. I truly appreciate your time and understanding.
