Many users have reported running into this issue. It seems to happen when multiple different accounts are used to sign in to OneDrive or Microsoft services in the same browser session. For example, this can occur if one account is signed in to Edge, while another account is also signed in through a different Edge tab or an InPrivate window.

To avoid this, try keeping each account in a separate browser. For example, use Edge for one account and Google Chrome for another. This helps prevent account session conflicts and may stop the error from appearing.

The extra storage that was purchased is Microsoft cloud storage (Microsoft 365 Basic), not additional physical disk space on the Windows PC. It is applied to the Microsoft account’s online storage (OneDrive/Outlook), and it can take some time before it is visible everywhere.

To confirm and refresh the storage:

    1. Check that the subscription is active and visible:
      • Go to Manage storage at https://onedrive.live.com/?v=managestorage and sign in with the same Microsoft account used for the purchase.
      • Verify that the increased storage or Microsoft 365 Basic subscription appears. It can take up to 24 hours for the new quota to show.
    2. If storage still has not updated after waiting:
      • Unlink and re‑link the OneDrive account on the PC to force a refresh of the quota, as suggested in the guidance for similar issues.
    3. If the account was previously locked or over quota:
      • Note that if the account is locked, it can take up to 2 hours after purchasing additional storage for the new quota to appear. If it has not updated after 4 hours, contact Microsoft support using the official support channels.
    4. If the 503 “Service Unavailable” error continues when accessing OneDrive online:
      • This is a service-side error. Wait and try again later, then re-check storage via the OneDrive website or Outlook.com → Email storage. If the error persists beyond the timeframes above, contact support as described in the OneDrive billing and storage articles.

Remember that exceeding Microsoft unified storage (OneDrive + Outlook + other services) can block email and file uploads until storage is back under quota or the new subscription is fully applied.
