    Hi waheed khan

I understand that you would like to upgrade the storage on your Surface Pro 8 Core i5 model 1983, which currently has a 128 GB SSD.

Surface Pro 8 uses a removable solid-state drive SSD. The official storage options for Surface Pro 8 include 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB, so the maximum official storage capacity to consider is 1 TB. For more information, please visit:

Before replacing the SSD, please back up all important files. After replacing the SSD, you may need to reinstall Windows by using the Surface Recovery Image and then install the required Surface drivers and firmware.

If your device is still under warranty, or if you are not familiar with hardware replacement, I recommend having the replacement performed by Microsoft or an authorized service provider. Incorrect replacement may damage the SSD connector or other internal components.

I hope this information helps you choose a compatible SSD upgrade for your Surface Pro 8 and prepare the replacement process safely. Wishing you a smooth storage upgrade experience and continued reliable performance with your Surface device.

Surface Pro 8 uses a removable solid-state drive (SSD) with the following official capacity options:

    • 128 GB
    • 256 GB
    • 512 GB
    • 1 TB

So, for a Surface Pro 8 Core i5 model that currently has 128 GB, the maximum officially supported SSD capacity is 1 TB.

The device uses a removable SSD module (not a 2.5" drive). When replacing it, the SSD must match the Surface Pro 8 removable SSD form factor and be one of the supported capacities above.
