Power Apps lets you build three types of apps: canvas apps, model-driven apps, and Power Pages sites. This module focuses on canvas apps — the flexible, screen-based apps you design pixel-by-pixel and connect to virtually any data source. You'll explore the canvas app maker portal, learn how app controls and data sources work together, and build your first canvas app from an Excel spreadsheet.
Learning objectives
This module explains how to:
- Describe what canvas apps are and how they differ from other Power Apps app types.
- Navigate the Power Apps maker portal and identify key canvas app creation options.
- Connect a canvas app to a data source and use gallery and form controls to display and edit data.
- Build a canvas app from an Excel workbook using both the template path and a blank canvas.
- Use Copilot to generate a canvas app from an uploaded file.
