Multiparty private offers overview

Note

On May 27, Microsoft Marketplace is expanding multiparty private offers to 30 countries in Europe, with availability in Australia, Japan, and South Africa coming July 15. Read the blog to learn more.

Multiparty private offers empower partners to sell collaboratively through an ecosystem made up of more than 500k+ partners. Multiparty private offers function similarly to private offers, but they're sold to the customer via a channel partner. The market estimates that 60 percent of cloud business on Microsoft Marketplace will rely on channel-led sales by 2030 [source: Omida].

As with private offers, customers can negotiate terms and conditions and pricing, and experience simplified purchasing through Marketplace. For customers that have an Azure cloud consumption commitment, the entire purchase counts toward their commitment when they buy solutions that are co-sell eligible, helping partners land larger sales faster.

How it works

Flowchart of multiparty private offer showing steps in the process described below.

Multiparty private offer purchase flow

The process of creating and executing multiparty private offers is:

  1. The software company (or authorized partner for resale enabled offers) creates a multiparty private offer and sends it to the channel partner.
  2. The channel partner finalizes the offer and extends the offer to their customer for acceptance.
  3. The customer accepts the private offer through the private offer management section of Azure portal.
  4. The customer buys each included product through Microsoft Marketplace.
  5. Microsoft invoices and collects payment from the customer according to their billing terms with Microsoft. If co-sell eligible, purchase of software counts towards cloud commitment.
  6. Microsoft pays the channel partner (no agency fee).
  7. Microsoft pays the software company (agency fee applied).
