Ever since the newest update my pc has been spazing out and trying to get me to open a new desktop.

for example, i right click on my desktop to open property's and it brings up the "desktop" option, i try to select items on the desktop to move and it pulls that up again, any window i open it trys to and its very annoying.

ive tried going into windows and doing something (i dont recall what it was) and that worked untill i turned on my pc again and it started doing it again.

to answer any of the obvius things; No i dont use the shortcut keys to open it, yes i have the shortcut on my start bar removed.

so my question is, is there anyway to disable multi desktop? cause honestly its driving me insane!

    Hi Mallori,

I understand the need to simplify the desktop experience. In Windows 11, the multi‑desktop (Virtual Desktop) feature is built into the system, so there isn’t a direct option to fully disable it from Settings.

However, you can effectively prevent or minimize its use with the following methods:

    Prevent creation of additional desktops

1, If you’re using Pro version:

    • Press Win + R > type gpedit.msc > Enter
    • Go to: User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > File Explorer
    • Enable “Block users from creating virtual desktops”
    • Run gpupdate /force in Command Prompt (Admin)

    2, For Home edition:

    • Open Registry Editor (regedit)
    • Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies
    • Create key Explorer (if missing) - DWORD: NoDesktopCreation = 1

Disclaimer: Generally, modifying registry subkeys or work group is intended for advanced users, administrators, and IT Professionals. It can help fix some problems, however, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For further protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. Dealing with a glitchy PC can be incredibly frustrating, especially when basic actions like a simple right-click disrupt your entire workflow. The tricky part here is that Windows 11 doesn't offer a direct "off switch" to completely delete the virtual desktop feature from your operating system. However, this specific, annoying bug where your screen starts spazzing out is almost always caused by a hardware conflict. Most of the time, it happens because an attached game controller, a wireless mouse dongle, or an external USB hub is sending accidental "ghost inputs" to your system. Unplugging those devices for a moment usually stops the behavior instantly, and you can permanently protect your desktop by turning off the "Task View" icon inside your taskbar settings.
