Using New Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
I understand you are having a problem with viewing the full message when opening email in new Outlook for Windows, and with adding Outlook to the taskbar. I am happy to help you.
Please reply with the following details:
- Whether Reading pane is set to Fill screen or Popout only
- Whether this happens with all emails or only some messages
- A screenshot of the Outlook layout (with personal information hidden)
Meanwhile, please also follow these steps:
- View email in full screen
- In new Outlook:
- Go to Settings
- Select Mail
- Choose Layout
- Under Reading pane, select Fill screen
- Open emails in a separate window
- If you prefer each email to open outside the main Outlook window:
- Go to Settings > Mail > Layout
- Under Reading pane, select Popout only
- If options are missing
- If you do not see Fill screen or Popout only, or the steps do not match:
- Confirm you are using new Outlook for Windows
- If the steps differ, you may be using a different Outlook version
- Use classic Outlook
- If you prefer the classic Outlook experience:
- You can switch back to classic Outlook
- Or run both versions side by side
- Pin Outlook to the taskbar
- To add Outlook to the taskbar:
- Open Start
- Type Outlook
- Right-click Outlook (new)
- Select Pin to taskbar
You can also pin Outlook (classic) the same way.
Please tell me how it goes. If the problem persists, please don’t hesitate to reply to this thread and I will be happy to help. Have a lovely day!
