Nope - you do not need to upgrade or recreate your running virtual machine right now, and your server will continue to run fine after the June deadline. The email notice you received concerns the deprecation of the legacy Azure Marketplace image source path, not the deprecation of the Windows Server 2022 operating system itself. Your active virtual machine will experience zero runtime interruptions, meaning it will not stop, reboot, or be deleted when the deadline passes.
Windows Server 2022 Datacenter Azure Edition follows Microsoft's Fixed Lifecycle Policy, ensuring that your OS continues to receive monthly security updates normally via Windows Update through October 14, 2031. You can also safely stop, start, restart, deallocate, or redeploy your virtual machine using standard Azure controls without any issues. The functions that will be blocked after the deadline are those that pull fresh data from the marketplace, such as using the built-in Azure reimage button, scaling out automated node sets, or using old templates to deploy identical new virtual machines.
