Quick Books did not transfer to my new Surface Pro 13

QuickBooks and other applications do not transfer automatically to a new Windows PC. Only files, some settings, and preferences can be moved; installed programs must be reinstalled on the new device.

To use QuickBooks on the new Surface Pro 13:

1. Locate the original QuickBooks installer and license information (from Intuit’s site or original media/account).
2. On the old computer, ensure any company data files are backed up (for example, to OneDrive, an external drive, or a network location).
3. On the Surface Pro 13, install QuickBooks using the official installer.
4. Activate QuickBooks with the existing product/license key.
5. Restore or open the backed-up company data files from where they were saved.

If other personal files did not move, use one of these supported methods:

• Use the built-in transfer experience during Windows 11 setup to move files and settings from the old PC to the new one (apps still must be reinstalled).
• Alternatively, copy files manually using an external hard drive or network drive.

Applications like QuickBooks must always be freshly installed on the new PC; they are not included in Windows’ file and settings transfer.
