Training: Instruction to develop new skills.
Hi Riyaz,
Can AI take the job of a Technical Product Manager? No — not fully. AI can assist with data analysis, documentation, backlog grooming, and market research, but a TPM's core value lies in stakeholder alignment, strategic decision-making, cross-team leadership, and navigating ambiguity. These require human judgment, empathy, and context that AI can't replace. AI is a tool for TPMs, not a replacement.
Is Technical Product Manager Important? Yes. TPMs bridge the gap between engineering and business. They ensure the right product gets built, on time, with the right trade-offs. Without them, teams build features nobody needs or miss market timing.
How to learn Technical Product Manager:
- Understand software development lifecycle (Agile, Scrum)
- Learn to write PRDs, user stories, and technical specs
- Get hands-on with tools like Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar
- Study system design basics so you can talk to engineers credibly
- Practice stakeholder communication and prioritization frameworks (RICE, MoSCoW)
- Microsoft Learn has paths on Azure DevOps and project management fundamentals
