We have a tenant that has been blocked due to inactivity, with code AADSTS5000225. We're requesting reactivation. I am the Global Administrator.

We think you need these three IDs:

  • Lifecycle Trace ID: 0e350206-a400-4811-9102-f72f02a62500
  • Correlation ID: 019e6cf5-c03f-7a2b-a5ee-f8c02f164438
  • Timestamp: 2026-05-28 05:01:45Z

To request reactivation of a tenant that is blocked with AADSTS5000225, the Global Administrator must contact Microsoft support directly. Reactivation is only possible within 20 days of the tenant entering the inactive/blocked state; after 20 days, the tenant is deleted and cannot be recovered.

Action steps for the Global Administrator:

    1. Verify the block window
      • Ensure the tenant has been in the “blocked due to inactivity” state for less than 20 days. After 20 days from the block, the tenant is permanently deleted and cannot be reactivated.
    2. Contact Microsoft support
      • As the tenant’s Global Administrator, contact Microsoft using the official support channels:
        • Use the global support phone numbers listed in the data protection/tenant-inaccessibility guidance: see global support phone numbers under the “Administrators” section.
      • Provide the support engineer with:
        • Tenant ID and primary domain name.
        • Error code: AADSTS5000225: This tenant has been blocked due to inactivity.
        • Any trace/correlation IDs and timestamps from the error page (such as the Lifecycle Trace ID, Correlation ID, and Timestamp provided).
    3. Avoid duplicate requests
      • After opening a support case, do not submit additional assistance requests for the same tenant until a decision is communicated.
    4. If the tenant is already deleted
      • If Microsoft confirms the tenant has passed the 20‑day blocked period and has been deleted, it cannot be recovered. A new tenant must be created instead.

    Optional access checks while waiting:

    • Try signing in with a tenant-specific Azure portal URL if needed for troubleshooting with support, for example using the tenant ID or tenant name as shown in the Q&A guidance.
