    Hi bharath k,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft QnA

As you don't already have a Microsoft account, check the following information.

    Use a university email address

If you're signing in with a university email address (for example, username@university.edu), you need to create a Microsoft account with that email address. Creating an account is free and takes just a few minutes. Having a Microsoft account allows you to automatically sign in to all your Microsoft products with a single username and password.

    Use a personal email address

If you're signing in with a personal email address (for example, username@email.com) but you also have a university email address, try using the university email address. If you previously signed in to your institution's webstore with a personal email address or you don't have a university email address, you need to create a Microsoft account or link a Microsoft account with your personal email address.

    Use an existing Microsoft account

For students who have an existing Microsoft account (for example, Xbox), give them the following instructions for connecting that account to an Azure Dev Tools for Teaching account:

    1. Go to the sign-in page for your Microsoft account.
    2. Sign in with your Microsoft account credentials.
    3. On the ribbon, select Your info.
    4. Select Manage how you sign in to Microsoft. Screenshot that shows a link for managing sign-in to Microsoft.
    5. Verify your identity. Enter the security code that you received in email, and then select Verify. Screenshot that shows a message for entering an emailed sign-in code. !
    6. Select Add email and enter your university email address. Screenshot that shows a link for adding an email address. The next time you sign in, you can use your university email address to access the Azure Dev Tools for Teaching account.

For Azure student offers and training programs, registration requires a valid Microsoft account, not just a Gmail address.

If registration is failing with a @gmail.com address, the most common reasons are:

    1. No Microsoft account exists for that email
      • A Gmail address must first be turned into a Microsoft account.
      • Create a free Microsoft account using the same Gmail address, then use that account to sign in.
    2. The Gmail address is not properly linked to the Microsoft account used for Azure training
      • If there is already a Microsoft account (for example from Xbox or other Microsoft services), sign in to the Microsoft account profile and add the Gmail address as a sign-in alias:
        1. Go to the Microsoft account sign-in page.
        2. Sign in with the existing Microsoft account.
        3. Select Your infoManage how you sign in to Microsoft.
        4. Verify identity if prompted.
        5. Select Add email and add the @gmail.com address.
      • After that, use this Gmail address to sign in to Azure training/education portals.
    3. Using a personal email instead of a university email where required
      • Some student programs (for example Azure Dev Tools for Teaching) expect a university/school email.
      • If a university email exists, create or link a Microsoft account with that university address and use it for student registration.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, contact the official support channel for the specific Azure training or student program being used, as they can check the account and registration status.
