Outlook Calendar (WEB) - No longer shows icons on event or within edit/new event. Disappeared.

I have a few years of events within my Outlook Calendar (web) marked with icons. Whenever I invoice a completed job, I mark the event with a $ sign. This helps me know what's been invoiced and what hasn't. Sometime in October 2025, leading into November, all of my icons have disappeared.

Although if I edit the event, it shows that an 'icon' has been selected, but it's 'blank'. Essentially, I cannot see the icons any longer. What changed, and is there a fix to bring back the icons?

I have the same issue. First it started on my laptop and now it's also on my desktop. The ability to add icons is still there, but the UI doesn't show them (I honestly cannot believe Microsoft would have such an ugly experience, either leave them or take them off completely, showing them blank just leads to you to think it's a bug, not a feature change).

And yes I tried clearing cache and even open the Calendar in incognito, no success! :-(

I only use Outlook web, I don't use the desktop version as I only use the Outlook Calendar not the email management, but those icons we heavily relied on. We are a bookkeeping company, every work we do is schedule on Outlook Calendar. The icons helped us identify work types which were "do not disturb", meetings, out of site or away on holidays. We used both icons and colours. I cannot believe they have been removed! So annoying!

First, try basic steps to rule out a cache or extension issue for the new UI code path refresh, clear browser cache, test in a private window, and try another browser. check whether you’re using the new Outlook toggle and see if the behavior changes in classic vs new.

Cleared Chrome of everything, almost a reset. Tried a private window. The icons appear when using Firefox. As far as new Outlook toggle, I'm assuming you mean the desktop client? I'm using the web client.

As a workaround, use categories with colors or add an emoji like a dollar sign directly in the event title, which continues to render. If you can, test creating a brand new event and applying an icon to confirm it still shows blank.

Actually, using a category is a great idea and not sure why I didn't think of that. I'll start doing this for now.

A few quick questions to pinpoint this are you on Outlook.com or microsoft 365 work account, does the issue happen across browsers and devices, which outlook experience are you using new or classic, and do category colors still appear correctly. If you share those details, I can guide you to the best path forward.

365 work account. Only happens in Chrome. Works in FireFox. All web clients. I don't use desktop clients for specific purposes.

Hi, I can see how losing those calendar icons makes tracking invoiced jobs harder, and I want to help get you back on track. the root cause is a recent outlook on the web update that removed support for the legacy event icon renderer, so existing events still hold an icon value but the UI no longer displays it, which is why you see a blank.
