Reporting someone who stole my email address

What can I do about a hacker? Somehow he/she has diverted emails sent to my address?

Dozens of friends have received emails from me requesting iTunes gift cards. I knew nothing about this because when they replied it was to a false address. Not mine!

Since Friday I have received nothing from any of those friends. They can get through only on Face Book and text.

I did all that and discovered suspicious activity.

I instantly signed him/her out and changed my password.

The problem then arose that none of my friends could access me on the old address.

Anything they wrote was being diverted to tessatayl0r***[AT]hotmail.com

    This is the hacker.

So he is now just receiving all my emails.

    I have hundreds of contacts.

I have set up a new email account with a different password.

But I'd like my old one back.

Lots of important stuff has probably been sent since last Friday.

Thank you Timon. That is kind.

I joined the Microsoft Community only today; a friend recommended that I tell them about the hacking.

My email account is actually with Yahoo.

    Any other ideas?
