Re: Importing from Google Ads

Microsoft wants to "do anything you can do on your Google Ads account."

Is this safe? Why does MS need this?

    Hello Joseph

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Advertising Community Forum! My name is John, and I will be assisting you with this query.

Is it safe to import your Google ads to Microsoft advertising? The answer is 'yes'. This is one of the faster options to start with Microsoft advertising if you're coming from Google ads instead of creating your campaigns from scratch. There are benefits of doing import and it's designed to save valuable time. Get Started with Microsoft Advertising

You can indeed import certain things from Google Ads into your Microsoft Advertising account. Before you do so, I highly recommend going through the information and help material below:

Having imported your campaigns from Google Ads, you can check the status of your import, review error logs, and edit, pause, or delete your import schedule. Keep in mind that not all information will be imported, but that doesn't mean it's not supported within Microsoft Advertising. So, after you import, be sure to review your campaigns to make sure everything is good to go and add the missing information back to your campaigns.

Whether this is your first time or you're re-importing an existing campaign, it's important to keep track of all the items that are either transferred or updated, and which ones are simply left untouched. To make it easier for you, please refer to the list on the help page below to see which items get brought over during your initial import as well as which items Microsoft Advertising updates when you repeat the process. Furthermore, for learning more about the items you should check during the import it is vital that you check this help page:

What gets imported from Google Ads (microsoft.com)

If you already are using Google Ads to advertise on Google, you can import these campaigns into Microsoft Advertising so that you can run the same ads on Bing. This is an easy way to expand your online advertising reach. These are the basic steps for importing from Google Ads:

    1. From the top menu, select Import > Import from Google Ads.
    2. Select Sign in to Google and follow the prompts to give Microsoft Advertising permission to import campaigns from your Google Ads account.
    3. Under Choose accounts, select the account that you want to import from Google Ads > Next.
    4. Select Advanced import if you want to choose which items are imported, adjust bids, bid strategies, and budgets, associate UET tags, and more.

If you don't require customizations, then you can enter the import name, set the schedule, and then select Start import to finish the setup. We'll fine-tune the import settings and automate the schedule so that your campaigns do their best on Microsoft Advertising. For further information about Advanced import, importing multiple accounts, and other key steps, please see the help page below:
